Auburn, WASHINGTON January 16, 2023 – PPI Technical Services (PPITS) has been awarded a long- term United States Air Force contract for tire and wheel maintenance support to the Indonesian Air Force’s fleet of Lockheed C-130 Hercules large transport aircraft. Indonesia is a strong partner nation to the United States military.

With a long history of supporting C-130 capabilities upgrades and capacity sustainment contract with the Indonesian Air Forces, PPITS is not only a well-respected company in Indonesia, but globally. PPITS continues to expand its footprint around the globe establishing and standing-up aerospace maintenance facilities, providing expert capacity building and executing long term technical sustainment programs supporting a wide range of platforms.

Indonesia continues to focus on expanding its internal capabilities, focusing on added in-house capabilities to support C-130 tire and wheel maintenance. PPITS will focus on providing support for the facilities, equipment, materials and procedures as well as personnel familiarization training. This upgraded internal capacity will add to the already installed capabilities provided by PPITS and will further support the Indonesian Air Force’s focus on being self-sufficient in the maintenance of its fleet of twelve C-130 aircraft. Through the execution of this project, the in-house capabilities will improve from Field level to Intermediate level.

More specifically, the work scope provides services required to develop and enhance specialized C-130 tire and wheel skills and provide in-house support to the C-130 Tire and Wheel Maintenance personnel.

PPITS will develop for the Nation of Indonesia-Air Unit a Comprehensive Enhancement Plan and provide the necessary resources to ultimately gain self-sufficiency. The Comprehensive Enhancement Plan includes:Picture4.1

  • Procuring and supplying critical inventory necessary to ensure shop continuity and upgrade aged equipment
  • Developing and implementing a floor plan of the Tire and Wheel work center
  • Developing and implementing a training plan to enhance Tire and Wheel personnel capabilities beyond the Field Maintenance Level to the Intermediate Level

George Canovas, Chief Compliance Officer with PPITS’ sister company Pacific Propeller International, and the Executive Vice President of PPITS, provided lead oversight in securing the USAF contract. “PPITS is proud to be asked by the USAF to help our Indonesian partner nation in improving their Air Unit’s fleet readiness and to impart the technical airframe maintenance knowledge and workflow expertise PPITS is known for. Pacific Propeller has had a long relationship with the Indonesian Air Force and these relationships will make the execution of this contract happen smoothly,” Canovas said.

The fulfillment of this contract will benefit the USAF’s mission by Indonesia’s ability to provide aircraft for humanitarian efforts, disaster relief and any other mission assistance in the Pacific Air Force (PACAF) theater.
